We extend our hearty congratulations to Film Studies student Paul Tortolo, winner of the 2011 Vision Frame Analysis Contest hosted by Film Matters, an international journal of peer-reviewed undergraduate scholarship in film studies. Sponsored by distribution company Zeitgeist Films and academic publishing company Intellect Ltd., the contest invited students from around the world to submit a short analysis of a frame from the film Vision: From the Life of Hildegard von Bingen, directed by famed German director Margarethe von Trotta and released in 2009. In addition to earning the grand prize of $500 USD and a yearlong subscription to Film Matters, Tortolo will find his winning analysis featured in issue 3.2 of the journal due out later this year.
