TVO Best Lecturer Competition
Sep 28/09
Each
year TVO sponsors a competition to recognize best lecturers from
Ontario colleges and universities. Students who nominate a professor
are eligible to be entered into a draw for an iPod, and if Laurier
wins, it means great recognition for our professors, our university,
and a $10,000 TD Insurance Meloche Monnex scholarship. Attached is an
e-flyer you may wish to post and/or distribute electronically. The more
nominations the better our chance for Laurier faculty to be recognized!
Nomination Process
The
process begins with students nominating one of their favourite
professors between August 1st and October 12th - a process that
includes the completion of a short form that asks for the student name
and contact information, the name and email of their favourite profesor
and a brief outline of why they are nominating their professor. From
there, TVO contacts the nominated professor to inform him/her of the
nomination and ask them to complete the following to secure their
acceptance: (1) a completed acceptance and nomination release and
waiver form and (2) a video clip of them lecturing for at least 30
minutes.
Eligibility
The Competition is open to any
professors (except winners from past Best Lecturer competitions) who
accept the nomination of their student(s) and who are: a) presently
lecturing at an Ontario post-secondary institute (i.e. university,
college, etc.); b) residents of Ontario; and, c) of the age of majority
at the date of competition closing. Full eligibility rules are listed
at http://www.tvo.org/bi/bl10CompetitionRules.html.
