A Laurier student was among three young entrepreneurs who each won $1,000 in the iGNITION $1K Pitch Competition, held on Friday, November 30 at the Accelerator Centre in Waterloo. The 45 participants had 90 seconds each to present their business ideas to a panel of judges. MBA student, Martin Vaz-Jones pitched his company, 24houredits, which provides affordable, high-quality overnight editing services to students and professionals, specializing in professional business-based resumes, cover letters and general business writing.
“The judges had a challenge choosing among the excellent pitches this year,” said Steve Farlow, executive director of Laurier’s Schlegel Centre for Entrepreneurship. “This is a key step for student entrepreneurs to start their businesses and compete for funds as part of the Laurier Entrepreneurship Challenge which is taking place in March 2008.”
