University/College career fair
More than 230 employers and over 3,000 students and alumni of the areaís four post-secondary institutions will meet and talk about careers and employment opportunities at the 13th annual Career Fair on Wednesday, September 27 at RIM Park in Waterloo.
The event is the largest post-secondary Career Fair of its kind in Canada.
Co-sponsored by the University of Guelph, Conestoga College, University of Waterloo and Wilfrid Laurier University, the Career Fair gives students and alumni the opportunity to network with representatives of participating organizations and obtain career information.
The event is being held from 10:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m. and is free to anyone from the four institutions with a current student or alumni ID card. There is even shuttle-bus service from each of the institutions to the RIM Park site. Laurier buses will depart from the parking lot at the rear of St. Michaelís Campus.
Many economic sectors will be represented, including financial services, advanced manufacturing, information technology, retail services, engineering, aerospace, telecommunications, health care, pharmaceuticals, food and hospitality services, law enforcement, community and social services, and government agencies and departments.
Participating employers include area businesses, industries and community organizations, major Ontario-based employers with national and global presence, and multinational firms with operations in Canada.
A sample of the employers includes: ACNielsen Canada; ASECO Integrated Systems; Cargill; Industry Canada; Geomatrix Consultants; Grey Bruce Health Services; Hydro One Networks Inc.; IBM Canada; News Marketing Canada; Nortel; Linamar Corporation; Transfreight Integrated Logistics; Maple Leaf Foods; Pharma Career; Research In Motion; Shell Canada Limited; Hudsonís Bay Company; TD Canada Trust; TELUS; York Regional Police; Upper Canada Forest Products; Toyota Canada; and RBC Insurance.
