Laurier Guest Student wins prestigious Canada Council Prize
The Faculty of Music is thrilled that Cameron Crozman, a 17 year-old cellist from London, Ontario, has been awarded the Canada Council Michael Measures Prize. Launched in September 2010 through a partnership with the National Youth Orchestra of Canada (NYOC), the prize will provide Mr. Crozman with $15,000 to help build his musical career, which has already taken him across Canada and abroad, to China and the Netherlands. Since 2007, Cameron has been a regular guest in Laurierís cello class, studying with Faculty of Music cello professor Paul Pulford.
The NYOC co-ordinates and supervises the administration of the competition and selection of the annual winner of the Michael Measures Prize. The recipient, between the ages of 16-22, is chosen from those who have successfully completed the NYOCís annual summer training program.
