WATERLOO – Yan Xinping, president of Chongqing University of Science and Technology in Chongqing, China, will present an overview of post-secondary education in China and Chongqing to the Wilfrid Laurier University community April 12.
Yan will discuss current challenges and opportunities in China, which is experiencing a period of educational reform and development. He will also shed light on the educational structure in Chongqing, where Laurier established its China office in 2007. There are currently 56 post-secondary institutions in Chongqing. Yan will discuss plans for further growth to meet the higher educational needs of 37 million people.
“President Yan's talk will help the Laurier community better understand the strategic advantages for collaborating with the fast-changing post-secondary educational sector of China and why Chongqing is a well-suited location for our China office,” said Peter Donahue, director of Laurier International.
The talk will take place April 12, 2012, from 10:30 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. in the Schlegel Building on Laurier’s Waterloo campus, room SBE1230. If you are interested in attending the talk, please RSVP to cmak@wlu.ca by 4 p.m. on April 11.
