Network drives will be moving May 24 & 25
Part of the migration to Microsoft Solutions from Novell is the move to Microsoft Network shared drives. This process will commence Saturday, May 24 at 5 p.m. and will continue until midnight Sunday, May 25.
Users will not be able to connect to the shared network drives during this period. Banner will also be unavailable during this time.
- All data in the I and J network drives stored as of Saturday at 5 p.m. will be added to the Windows Network Shares.
- Files deleted within this period may reappear on users’ Network Drives, and depending on how far along the last restore is progressing, users may not see files created after Friday night. ITS asks users to be patient, they will get there!
- If users have mapped network drives themselves, they will have to map them again. All drives, other than I, J, O and P will be collapsed into the J drive.
For assistance with this process, or if a network drive is missing, please contact the Service Desk. Users are asked to have their computer names handy, which can be found by clicking on Start, right-clicking on Computer, and clicking on Properties. The computer name will be displayed at the bottom.
ITS assures users that all data is safe. All university data has been backed up, and then backed up again to ensure no loss of data.
As part of the process, Netstorage is also retiring. On Monday, May 26, users will be able to access Network Drives via http://netfiles.wlu.ca
