Shannon Lefaivre receives International Summer Fellowship from Parkinson's Disease Foundation
The Sun Life Financial Movement Disorders Research and Rehabilitation Centre (“MDRC”) is pleased to congratulate Shannon Lefaivre on being awarded the International Summer Fellowship award from Parkinson’s Disease Foundation.
PDF's Summer Fellowship Program is open to international students – from advanced undergraduates to medical students – in their pursuit of Parkinson's-related summer research projects. The goal of the Summer Fellowship is to cultivate an early interest in Fellows into the cause and possible treatments for Parkinson's.
Shannon is a Master’s student at Wilfrid Laurier University doing research at MDRC under the supervision of Dr. Quincy J. Almeida. Shannon has been leading PDSAFEx classes with Parkinson’s Disease participants over the past year and plans to continue with research in this field. This Fellowship will allow her to work on the project "Can sensory attention focused exercise (PD SAFEx) improve balance control and proprioception in PD?" This will be an innovative project with the potential to help lots of people dealing with Parkinson's and its symptoms.
Congratulations, Shannon, on being recognized at this level!
