Help for Students Graduating in 2006/7

Mar 23/06

Career Services can help you prepare for finding a job upon graduation.

Hi...this message is for students who will be in their final year of studies this coming fall/winter of 2006/2007 and who will be looking for
a full-time position upon graduation the following spring/summer.

The Graduating Student Employment Service, a program where employers post positions for students who will be graduating in 2007, begins in September of 2006 and runs until June of 2007. Several employers will have application deadlines in the month of September, schedule on-campus recruiting events, and begin conducting interviews in early October. Classes commence this  fall on September 11 which leaves very little time to prepare resumes, cover letters, interview skills, etc. Each year, we have 300 - 400 employer organizations recruit on campus through the Graduating Student Employment Service.

Feel free to take advantage of our services over the summer months to ensure you are prepared to participate in this popular job service for graduating students or be sure to get in touch with our office early in September to get registered, make sure your application material is prepared, ensure that you are prepared for your job search, and to view job postings that will already be posted online and in hard copy in Career Services.

One last note, Career Fair will be held this fall on Wed., Sept. 27, 2006 and Job Fair on Wed., Feb. 7, 2007. We offer many services to assist students with their career development so drop by our office located at 232 King St N., and visit our website, www.wlu.ca/career

Thanks, Joy
