Laurier Entrepreneurship Competition helps students turn business ideas into reality
Are you a Laurier student entrepreneur with a great business idea and the passion to pursue it? Laurier’s Schlegel Centre for Entrepreneurship is now accepting applications for the Laurier Entrepreneurship Competition.
In its fifth year, the competition is designed to kickstart new and exisiting student start-up businesses.
Participating students develop business ideas and plans and present their new venture to an external panel of judges. Organizers have $18,000 in prizes to award to the top-three candidates to help turn their new venture ideas into reality.
Finalists also have the opportunity to compete nationally for the Wes Nicol Entreprenerial Award.
“Laurier is well known for producing students with innovative business ideas. It’s not just about what we teach them but how they apply their learning in the real world as well,” said Steve Farlow, executive director of Laurier’s Schlegel Centre for Entrepreneurship. “This competition provides a platform for students to showcase their ventures, and gain valuable feedback and experience. Laurier students have benefited tremendously from this competition, and each year they perform well in the national competition.”
This year, the Schlegel Centre for Entrepreneurship has partnered with two student organizations — Laurier Innovation & Technoogy Club (LiTC) and Students in Free Enterprise (SIFE) Laurier — to expand the reach and impact of the program.
The competition is open to Laurier students in all programs and years, and can be entered by individuals or teams of up to four. The registration deadline is Jan. 25 and business plans are due Feb. 10. For competition guidelines and regulations, the competition handbook is available for download at /eship. For more information, contact Victoria Larket at email@example.com.
