Canadian Sociological Association Outstanding Graduating Student Award Criteria

Jan 29/14

The Canadian Sociological Association has made available an undergraduate award for graduating students (not monetary, but a certificate of recognition). We invite our honours Sociology students to apply if they have graduated in fall 2013 or if they plan to graduate in June 2014, and if they meet the criteria below:

1. Students who have achieved an A- average in their last 1.5 years, who are currently enrolled in fourth year, and who are due to graduate in spring 2014;

2. Students who plan to pursue an MA in Sociology or a related field;

3. Students who have contributed to student life on campus and/or to the Sociology program or who have excelled in Sociology despite other difficult life circumstances.

Applicants should submit a 300-word statement outlining their future plans, and indicating how they have contributed to student life and/or the Sociology program. If applicable, students should indicate how this contribution has been made in the context of difficult or challenging life circumstances. Letters of application should be forwarded via email to Dr. Dana Sawchuk (c/o socadmin@wlu.ca) by March 7, 2014

The award winner will be announced in March.
