Feb 6/09

Thank you Hill Family!

In December 2008, The Hill Family made a donation to Laurierís Movement Disorders Research & Rehabilitation Centre (MDRC) a generous gift of securities.

The MDRC is based in the Faculty of Science and conducts research into movement disorders, predominately those found in individuals with Parkinsonís disease. The centre conducts research that has immediate and direct impact on individuals in our community. Research foci include investigation of brain function, evaluation of internationally developed treatment strategies and devices, and the development of exercise rehabilitation for the alleviation of disease symptoms.

Anonymous gift given to an established Biology award

In December 2008, Wilfrid Laurier University received an anonymous gift of $9,000 to go towards an already established undergraduate award in Biology.

This donation also qualifies for the matching gift program through The Ontario Trust for Student Support (OTSS.) Through this program, the Ontario government matches, dollar for dollar, donations made to endowed funds used to establish awards for Ontario students who are in financial need.
