Gift of digital projection equipment supports quality teaching

WATERLOO, ON — Gerry Remers, president and chief operating officer of Christie Digital Systems Canada Inc., returned to his alma mater today to see first-hand how the company’s gift-in-kind is helping Laurier students. Christie, a global leader in visual solutions, recently made a generous donation of equipment to Laurier valued at more than $80,000.
Christie’s donation of a variety of high brightness LCD digital projectors has greatly improved the quality of projected images in Laurier classrooms. This new equipment has been strategically installed in lecture rooms to benefit the largest number of students.
“Over the years, Laurier has been a great supporter of Christie and I’m pleased to have helped facilitate this contribution to the university and the student body,” said Remers, who graduated from Laurier in 1979.
"I had a wonderful meeting with Gerry to welcome him back to campus today, and to thank him personally for the generosity of this gift," said Dr. Max Blouw, president and vice-chancellor of Laurier. "Gerry and Christie Digital are global leaders and Laurier is very fortunate to be championed by them."
