J.P. Bickell Foundation gives $25,000 in support of new biology lab

The J.P. Bickell Foundation has generously donated $25,000 in support of a new initiative in the Department of Biology: the Cellular and Molecular Biology Undergraduate Laboratory.
This gift will be directed
towards the purchase of specialized DNA sequencing and genotyping equipment,
software, and supplies. This will allow the biology department to make the most
of its expertise and its ability to offer courses that emphasize modern
technology. The ability to sequence DNA and analyze genotypes using
micro-satellite and/or AFLP analyses will expand the number and types of
research projects that can be carried out. The J.P. Bickell
Foundation has been extremely generous to Laurier in the past and the Faculty of
Science extends its gratitude for their ongoing support.
