Embedded Myths: Rethinking the Canadian and American West

Second Winter Term Event in the North American Studies Interdisciplinary Lecture Series
Award-winning Saint Lawrence University professor Robert Thacker will speak as part of the "Embedded Myths: Rethinking the Canadian and American West" panel on Tuesday February 24th from 4-6 pm. Robert Thacker is a specialist of Alice Munro, Willa Cather, former editor of the American Review of Canadian Studies and past president of the Western Literature Association. He is one of the most vocal advocates for comparative cultural/literary studies between Canada and the United States. Panel participants will include Victoria Lamont (University of Waterloo) and Katherine Ann Roberts (WLU). The event will take place in the Paul Martin Centre at Wilfrid Laurier University. This is a free event, though seating will be on a first come, first seated basis.
The lecture series is coordinated by the North American Studies Program and presented with the generous co-operation and support of the departments of Archaeology and Classical Studies, Anthropology, English and Film Studies, Geography, Global Studies, History, Political Science, Religion and Culture, Sociology, Women's Studies; the Office of the Dean of the Faculty of Arts; Public Affairs; WLU Alumni Association; and the Laurier Lecture and Academic Events Fund.
