"Knowledge sharing among multisectoral partners is essential to innovation and to building the expertise needed for Canada's future," said Dr. Chad Gaffield, president of SSHRC, a primary funding body of social science and humanities research in Canada.  

The first workshop was hosted on October 19th by Laurier's Centre for Community Research, Learning and Action and was led by Shawna Reibling, the knowledge mobilization officer in Laurier's Office of Research Services.

The next workshop is open to anyone:

• Brantford campus - November 23, 10:30-noon, CB100

The workshop will cover:

• what knowledge mobilization is and why it matters
• examples of knowledge mobilization strategies for the social sciences and humanities
• examples of knowledge mobilization strategies for the sciences
• clear language summaries as an example of an outreach tool  

Shawna Reibling comes to Laurier from the University of Guelph, where she was a Knowledge Mobilization Coordinator, serving both the College of Social and Applied Human Sciences and the Institute for Community Engaged Scholarship. She previously managed a knowledge mobilization team in the UBC Faculty of Education and was a Grants Facilitator at the University of British Columbia.
