Laurier December Host For The Holidays provides students with a fun way to celebrate the holidays
Over the holidays, Laurier International launched a new Host for the Holiday program. The program matches international students with community members who want to share the holidays by hosting at least two international students for a holiday dinner or holiday events.
This gives international students a great opportunity to learn about the Canadian holiday celebrations. Many of these international students are unable to get home for the holiday, so Laurier International is looking to making them feel at home with this program. One of the hosts, faculty member Dr. Gavin Brockett, had this to say "We had dinner, went tobogganing in the park and played some games. A very happy time, and clearly they appreciated it".
The students seemed to have definitely appreciated it, as student Guanglong Pan said "I'm so thankful that I had the experience to spend my holiday with Professor Brockett. I enjoyed myself a lot. I was immersed in the holiday atmosphere and experienced many holiday traditions. Thank you again to the international office and Professor Brockett for offering me this unforgettable Christmas, best Christmas ever!"
Hopefully the program continues to grow, and more international students get to experience the same excitement that Guanglong Pan did.
