Incoming International and Exchange Students participate in Winter Orientation 2014
Laurier International hosts Orientation for incoming international and exchange students.
Laurier International welcomed a new group of International and Exchange students last week.
Incoming International Laurier students participated in International Orientation from January 2-4, 2014. Activities for the three days included, campus tours, workshops on living in Waterloo, LORIS tutorials and lectures on Canadian culture and study skills.
“It’s a great opportunity for new International and exchange students to meet other students and get familiar with some of the many services that Laurier offers students,” said Anna Done Choudhury, Senior International Student Advisor.
During orientation students are introduced to Canada, Laurier and basic information on health care, cultural adjustment and immigration basics. These sessions are fairly important to student success said Choudhury.
“Past participants have overwhelmingly said that orientation made a positive contribution to academic and social adjustments”.
Orientation included two off-campus dinners and a winter activity trip to Chicopee Tube Park for two hours of snow tubing with a Canadian breakfast.
The new Laurier students will start classes January 6.
