New Exchange Partnership with East China Normal University

A Tri-University Semester in Shanghai with the University of Guelph and the University of Waterloo

Wilfrid Laurier University will participate in a Tri-University Semester in Shanghai with the University of Guelph and the University of Waterloo beginning September 2013.  The Semester will be hosted at  at East China Normal University (ECNU) in the Shanghai.  ECNU is  renowned for its strong humanities and social sciences  programs and has been recognized by the Chinese government for its international and academic excellence by inclusion within the Project 211 and 985" initiatives

Students from Laurier will participate in ECNU's Global Curriculum Program (see attached). The Program, runs from early September to mid December each year and attracts students from partners in North America and Europe. ECNU offers courses on  Mandarin language and on China taught in English Course are taught by ECNU professors. The Mandarin course has between 10 and 14 contact hours per week and courses on China come from the humanities, social sciences and business programs in ECNU. Some of the topics covered include   

-China's Macroeconomic impact

-International Marketing (China Focus)

-Introduction to Chinese Civilization

-Issues in Contemporary Chinese Society

-Classical Chinese Philosophy

-Contemporary Chinese Cinema

Laurier students will participate in the program as if they are going on an exchange, paying their tuition to Laurier and having the courses they complete successfully transferred towards their Laurier degree. Students will pay for their airfare, accommodations and meals.
