Changes to ICT Computer Labs on All Campuses

In an ongoing effort to provide students with a superior computer lab experience, ITS will doing some updates to all student computer labs on both campuses Thursday May 1, 2014.
There should be little or no impact to the student experience. However students may notice slight changes in 3 areas:
1) Logging in - Students will now authenticate to our network using Active Directory. This should not impact access at all. The login icon will appear slightly different.
2) Printing - Students will now see only 2 printer options, Black and White and Colour. If the black and white option is selected, students can go to any of the student printers (N1043, BA206, 1E105, or BA113) and use their one card to release the print job. Colour print jobs can be released at the colour printer location in the student service desk 1E4C.
3) Network drives – As of 4:30pm on May 2, 2014, your I drive will be located on a new server. This should not impact access at all. You will also be able to access your I drive via the web at netfiles.wlu.ca. Please see attached documentation on logging into the web tool to manage your network drive.
Additionally, we are encouraging students to use their Google Drive space, available through their mylaurier email to store documents. Google drive provides 25 gig of storage space while your I drive is 25 mb. Directions on accessing your google drive space is attached.
