Waterloo Lutheran Seminary’s Inshallah choir to perform with Mohawk singers Dec. 9

Communications, Public Affairs & Marketing

Dec 5/12

The Waterloo Lutheran Seminary’s Inshallah choir will perform an Advent and Christmas carol service Dec. 9 with Mohawk singers from the Six Nations of the Grand River Territory in Ohsweken.

This is the first time Inshallah, the Seminary’s global song community choir, is performing with the Mohawk singers for their annual carol service.

“We are honoured to be invited to Six Nations," said David Pfrimmer, principal dean at the Seminary. "In this special season, singing together with our Mohawk brothers and sisters will help us see and hear anew where God Emmanuel is among us and how we can walk."

The performance will include songs from the Philippines, Brazil, the Democratic Republic of Congo, Kenya, South Africa, and Haiti, as well as a song from the Nuxalk People in British Columbia. It will also include traditional Christmas carols.

“We are grateful for this invitation and the opportunity to sing with the Six Nations community,” said Debbie Lou Ludolph, director of the Inshallah choir. “Singing together opens up a space for a shared experience, and we're looking forward to that.”

“Inshallah Sings: With Carols by the Mohawk Singers” takes place Dec. 9 at 4 p.m. at St. Paul’s Anglican parish in Ohsweken, near Brantford, Ontario. The Inshallah choir will also perform “Carol Sing with a Global Twist” at the Seminary’s Keffer Chapel Dec. 11 at 5 p.m.
