Office of Aboriginal Initiatives Celebrates Laurier Student Bursary Recipients of the SUNDANCe Award

Wilfrid Laurier University's Office of Aboriginal Initiatives is pleased to announce the Laurier recipients for the 2012-2013 SUNDANCe Aboriginal Award. While one University of Waterloo student and two Laurier students were successfully acknowledged as Aboriginal leaders who give back to their communities, the Aboriginal Student Centre at the Waterloo campus wishes to acknowledge its student leaders, Elizabeth McLeod and Rachael Simon, for their hard work and meaningful contributions towards building a thriving campus community for Aboriginal students at Laurier.
Jean Becker, Wilfrid Laurier University's Senior Advisor: Aboriginal Initiatives, expressed congratulations to all recipients and stated, “The Office of Aboriginal Initiatives is committed to having Laurier be extraordinary and empowering experience for all Aboriginal students. We believe that education, in a welcoming environment, that honours Indigenous people, is the path for our people to be all that they can be. We are here to assist you in all areas of life as students and to ensure you have the best experience that university can offer.”

To be eligible for the SUNDANCe award, students must be a full-time Aboriginal (First Nations, Status, Non-status, Inuit or Métis) student who is attending Wilfrid Laurier University, the University of Waterloo, or the University of Guelph. This award was established to recognize Aboriginal students who give back to their communities.The next deadline for the SUNDANce Aboriginal Award is November 22nd 2013
