Want to be a part of campus wide change in the mindset of students, staff and faculty? Then come out and participate in Diversity Week Feb 6-10!
The goal of Diversity Week is to provide hands-on and shared learning opportunities for students on campus to broaden their understanding of the world and people around them. Diversity Week is presented by the MyRespect team, but is a campus wide initiative that brings together over 16 campus partners providing 26 events with one common goal, creating a more inclusive and aware LB community.
Students who attend one presentation put on by the Student Life Office, and 3 other events will receive recognition on their co-curricular record as a symbol of the dedication to extend their knowledge of diversity.

As a group of Laurier students, we promote Brant-Brantford Crime Stoppers and the safety of our campus and community in partnership with Laurier Brantford Special Constable Service by having fundraisers to raise money for Crime Stoppers and spread awareness. If you are interesting in joining, we are always looking for more members. Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training: MARCH 10-11
The ASIST workshop is for caregivers who want to feel more comfortable, confident and competent in helping to prevent the immediate risk of suicide. Over one million caregivers have participated in this two-day, highly interactive, practical, practice-oriented workshop.
Participation in the full two days is required. Enjoy small group discussions and skills practice that are based upon adult learning principles. Experience powerful videos on suicide intervention. Feel challenged and safe. Learn suicide first aid. *You do not require the Safe Talk training to qualify for ASIST training.
**For the workshop to run, it will require at least 20 individuals, with a maximum of 30. The group will be divided into two, to ensure understanding and opportunity. The workshop is a two day commitment, running for the majority of the day. Exact times will be provided for those interested.
The workshop will be offered at a discounted rate of $150.00

From Laurier International Opportunity Grants
Want to Do An International Internship This Summer?
Laurier Brantford can help with the costs. This year the Laurier Brantford International Opportunities Grants program is offering two (2) grants worth $2,000 each to help cover the costs of an internship undertaken for academic credit (this is usually done through a directed studies course). (Note: This program is not related to the Students for Development Internships.)

Your co-ed dodgeball team finished in 2nd place, losing in the finals, at the Humber College tournament on Jan.26. Your men's indoor soccer team competed at Redeemer on Jan. 27 finishing 3rd in their pool, missing the playoffs.
Extramural Men's Hockey Tournament
Laurier Brantford is hosting our second OCAA tournament this year on Friday February 10th. Our Laurier Brantford Extramural Men's team will be playing along with 9 other colleges at the Wayne Gretzky Sports Centre.

Ski and Snowboard Club are hosting a fashion show at Therapy Lounge Wednesday February 8th. After the fashion show, DJ Terekca will be spinning until 2am.

Service Update and Upcoming Workshops
Mastering the Art of Note-taking
This student-led workshop has been designed to provide participants with an opportunity to share their own note-taking strategies and techniques and to learn new tips and tricks from other students. Whether you are a note-taker through Accessible Learning or are just looking to improve your own personal notes, we encourage you to participate!
Learn how to use your PC or Mac to its full potential to organize your notes, how to select the information that really matters, and how to manage situations when note-taking becomes difficult.
Time: Tuesday, February 7 at 10:00-11:30 am
Location: Market Place room 115
Registration is recommended, but drop-ins are welcome.
Writing Well Workshop Series
The second day of this six week series of writing workshops is Wednesday, February 8th in Market Place from 4:00 – 5:00. This workshop is meant to help students to enhance their academic writing skills. Students are encouraged to bring the assignments they're working on with them for assistance and feedback.
Reading Week Hours
During Reading Week we will not be open for regular appointments. However, we will be open for drop-in help on Tuesday, February 21st and Wednesday, February 22nd from 10am – 4pm.
