WATERLOO – Wilfrid Laurier University has been accepted into the Ethical Code program of Imagine Canada, enabling the university to display the trustmark on its letterhead and other communications as a public declaration that it is committed to responsible solicitation and management of financial gifts.
Comparing the trustmark to a Good Housekeeping Seal of Approval for the public, Rob Donelson, vice-president of Development and Alumni Relations, said "this licence assures donors and friends of Laurier that we operate under the highest standards of ethics and accountability with respect to fundraising and financial management. We are honoured to be one of only two universities in Canada that has earned this recognition."
Donelson said Laurier applied for acceptance into the program because the university is committed to transparency in all its actions and relationships.
Imagine Canada now will link the Laurier website to its Ethical Code Participant page and post the Ethical Code logo on the Laurier portal so online donors see immediately that Laurier will manage their gifts to achieve the greatest possible impact. Imagine Canada is a national charitable umbrella organization, formed by a union of the Canadian Centre for Philanthropy and the Coalition of National Voluntary Organizations.
