WLUSA and WLUFA bargaining update
The University is currently in separate contract negotiations with the Wilfrid Laurier University Staff Association (WLUSA) and the Wilfrid Laurier University Faculty Association (WLUFA).
Bargaining is progressing in both sets of negotiations.
The University has met with the WLUSA bargaining team 17 times since the start of negotiations in June 2011. The next scheduled bargaining date is Jan. 18.
The University has met with the WLUFA bargaining team 20 times since the start of negotiations in mid-2011. WLUFA filed a request for conciliation with the Ontario Ministry of Labour on Nov. 30.
Conciliation is a normal part of the collective bargaining process and occurs in the majority of collective agreement negotiations. The conciliation officer’s role is to act as a facilitator and assist the two sides in reaching a settlement. The conciliator is scheduled to meet with the University and WLUFA January 24, 26 and 27.
WLUFA has made a number of statements in recent bargaining updates to its members. The University believes it is important to respond to some of these statements. To read the University’s response, please click here.
In both the WLUFA and WLUSA negotiations, the University remains committed to reaching agreements that are fair and equitable, and in the best interests of the institution and its students.
