University Ave. exit closed: directions for Waterloo campus move-in days

Wilfrid Laurier University’s faculty and staff are looking forward to welcoming new and returning Laurier students in September.

Move-in days on Laurier’s Waterloo campus are Sunday, August 31 and Monday, September 1 (Labour Day).

This year, the University Avenue West exit from Highway 85 is closed due to road construction.

The City of Waterloo is encouraging vehicles to use the Bridgeport Road East exit instead.

From Toronto:

  • Take 401 West towards London
  • Take exit 278 to Highway 8 West (toward Kitchener/Waterloo)
  • Take the Highway 7 East exit towards Guelph/Waterloo
  • Follow Highway 7 east, which becomes Highway 85 North to Waterloo
  • Exit on Bridgeport Road East
  • Turn right on Weber Street North
  • Turn left on University Avenue East
  • Follow University Avenue East across King Street. Turn left into the main entrance of the university at Hazel Street to pick up residence keys, register for LOCUS and receive a printed map to specific residence buildings.

From London:

  • Take the 401 East towards Toronto
  • Take exit 278B/Highway 8 West on to King St. East towards Kitchener
  • Head right onto Highway 8 West towards Kitchener
  • Take the Highway 7 East exit towards Guelph/Waterloo
  • Follow Highway 7 East, which becomes Highway 85 North to Waterloo
  • Exit on Bridgeport Road East
  • Turn right on Weber Street North
  • Turn left on University Avenue East
  • Follow University Avenue East across King Street. Turn left into the main entrance of the university at Hazel Street to pick up residence keys, register for LOCUS and receive a printed map to specific residence buildings.
