Communications, Public Affairs & Marketing
Laurier students looking for a study break can make an avatar of themselves or visit 10th century China through two exhibits at The Museum in downtown Kitchener – and at a special event price.
The Museum is offering all Laurier students a 25 per cent discount on James Cameron’s “AVATAR: The Exhibition” and “Treasures of China featuring the Dazu Rock Carvings.” Visit The Museum's website, click on the Buy Tickets button, and enter WLUSTUDENTS in the box for a promotional code.
“AVATAR: The Exhibition” runs until Jan. 13 and features artifacts from the film, interactive displays and behind-the-scenes footage. Visitors also have the opportunity to see themselves as an avatar and film their own scene, which they can email to themselves.
“Treasures of China featuring the Dazu Rock Carvings” is the North-American premiere of UNESCO World Heritage Site carvings. It runs until March 17 and includes 48 ancient Chinese sculptures depicting a fusion of Buddhist, Taoist and Confucian beliefs, dating back as far as the 10th Century AD.
With the discount, tickets to the individual exhibits are $14.13, or $20.06 when purchasing the bundle together. The child ticket price, aged 3 to 13, is $9.61 with the discount.
