From May 14-15, a high-level group of academics, military personnel, and practitioners gathered at Wilfrid Laurier University for a dynamic discussion on the Provincial Reconstruction Team (PRT) projects in Afghanistan. The Laurier Centre for Military Strategic and Disarmament Studies sponsored the event, with support from the Centre for International Governance Innovation and NATO. Col Simon Hetherington, who had recently returned from leading the mission in Kandahar, was a keynote speaker along with Mr. Daoud Yaqub who served with the Afghanistan cabinet. LCMSDS also held a public discussion on the evening of May 14, in partnership with the Canadian Insititute for International Affairs (CIIA), with William Maley, Ramesh Thakur, Terry Copp, and Patricia Goff speaking and aswering questions in a panel format.
