Indexing

It is the goal of the LCMSDS to make many of the most interesting and useful documents in our collections available to researchers free of charge. The first step in this process is the creation of an electronic catalogue of our holdings. This online catalogue, called Rover, will allow users access to our holdings, enabling them to obtain references for onsite viewing or on-demand copying. At present, the Ronnie Shephard collection (our largest textual records collection), has been indexed and is searchable online. In the fall of 2006 an index for the No Price Too High archive will also be placed online, with the other collections following soon after. Our goal is to have all of our collections indexed and searchable online by the end of 2008 or beginning of 2009.

Digitisation

During the same period we will also be adding digital content to those collections that have already been indexed. Digital content will become available in two formats: jpeg images for photographs and Adobe PDF files for textual documents. Once a document is digitized, a link will be placed in the corresponding record in Rover. Users will be able to screen for digital content using search filters.
