Honours Bachelor of Business Administration, Wilfrid Laurier University
Career Development Pratitioner Certificate, Conestoga College
I was born in Hamilton and raised in Grimsby, Ontario. I attended Wilfrid Laurier's Waterloo campus and received an Honours Bachelor of Business Administration degree, with a focus on Organizational Behaviour and Human Resources.
My human resources experience includes: compensation, recruitment and selection, employment equity, employee orientation, and policy development in the financial, manufacturing and government sectors.
My interest in Career Development began when I was working as the Assistant Coordinator for the Government of Canada's post-secondary recruitment campaign. In this job, I attended university career fairs and met thousands of students from across the province, many of whom had no idea of what they wanted to do after graduation. I returned to school to complete a post-degree program in Career Development at Conestoga College with the goal of helping people in career transition.
For a number of years, I worked in Waterloo as a self-employed career consultant and trainer in a variety of corporate and non-profit settings. During this time, I assisted people of all ages and stages with job loss, career decision making, resume development, and job search. My clients included: Sunlife Financial, Clarica, The Working Centre, Snyder and Associates, The Ontario Association of Help Centres, Conestoga College, The Retirement Education Centre, YMCA Cross Cultural and Community Services, and Lutherwood Youth Employment Centre.
In 2004, I moved from Waterloo to Port Dover, and joined the staff at Laurier Brantford.
