Biography

J. Alex Murray is professor emeritus at Wilfrid Laurier University and is currently a consultant in international business and survey research.  Alex was Dean of the School from 1982 until 1996.  During his tenure as dean he initiated the Canadian Business Outlook Seminar which is held annually by the School. Professor Murray also served as Director of Laurier International from 1996 to 2001.  He has been a consultant to Federal and State Governments and companies in Canada and the United States on international business and trade strategy. Prior to his academic career, he was a manager with Servicemaster Associates, a Chicago-based international franchising company.

Professor Murray has held a variety of academic and administrative positions at five universities, including the University of Michigan, UCLA, USC, Illinois and Windsor. At Windsor University, he was Director of the Institute for Canadian-American Studies. He has published over 12 books and monographs, 30 referred articles and 31 scholarly presentations.  Professor Murray holds a PhD, from the University of Illinois and a MBA from McMaster University.
