| Education: | He holds a PhD in Akkadian Language and Literature (Toronto, 2004; minors Semitic Linguistics and Sumerian), an M.Div. (Waterloo Lutheran Seminary, 1994) and a B. Math/Computer Science (Waterloo, 1984). His dissertation topic was "Abum-waqar and his Circle: A Prosopographical Study," a study of economic and related documents from the city of Larsa under Rim-Sîn |

Biography
Karljürgen is Associate Professor specializing in Amorite Akkadian, Classical Hebrew, and the culture and mythology of the ancient Near East and Egypt, with a focus on the early second millennium.
Other Interests:
Karljürgen was one of three authors of a proposal recently accepted by the Unicode Technical Committee to encode Mesopotamian Cuneiform script (N2698: Revised proposal to encode the Cuneiform script in the SMP of the UCS by Michael Everson, Karljürgen Feuerherm, and Steve Tinney - http://www.dkuug.dk/jtc1/sc2/wg2/docs/n2698.pdf). He also enjoys teaching Shorinji-ryu Karatedo as the head instructor of a local dojo.
