The Teaching, Learning and Technology (TLT) Group at Laurier officially began in October 1998. Accomplishments have included the introduction of an effective Student Technology Assistant (STA) program, the promotion of the utilization of course management software for both classroom and distance education courses, the encouragement of University budgetary expenditures to expand the number of multimedia classrooms, the endorsement and encouragement of the Library's information literacy programming, and the promotion of the use of technology in teaching and learning through the sponsorship of a number of best practice workshops.

Mandate for the TLT Steering Committee

The mandate of the Teaching, Learning and Technology(TLT) Steering Committee is to promote and facilitate the appropriate use of information technology for teaching and learning at Wilfrid Laurier University. Accordingly, the Committee:

• promotes the effective use of technologies in teaching and learning at Laurier and forwards recommendations to the appropriate Senate committees
• recommends initiatives regarding the use of technologies in teaching and learning to the Vice-President: Academic
• monitors and evaluates the use of technologies in teaching and learning at Laurier
• receives input from the Laurier community through appropriate means
• forms special interests groups, or ad hoc sub committees, from time to time, as necessary
