Mary Kelly is an Associate Professor in Finance and Insurance at Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Canada. Previously, she has taught at University of Calgary and worked as an actuary before entering academia. At WLU, she is one of two faculty members who teach in the school’s insurance concentration. In addition, she has also organized and taught in the Insurance Institute of Canada’s summer Insurance Education Workshop for teachers. She has sat as a board member on the local chapter of the Insurance Institute of Ontario.
She has presented her research at various insurance, finance and actuarial science conferences. She has published in many practitioner and academic journals in the field of insurance.
Research Interests
Primary Research interests include automobile insurance, the distribution of personal insurance, capital holdings of property/liability insurers, elderly drivers and road safety, and the use of mitigation in earthquake insurance.
