Biography

Laura Allan is an Assistant Professor at the School of Business & Economics. She started teaching at the university in 1984, and from 1991 to 1997 was also involved in the real estate industry as a part owner and managing director of the top volume per agent ReMax franchise in the K-W area. In addition to her teaching, Prof. Allan has acted as academic editor, written chapters, and been co-author on three different introduction to Canadian business textbooks. Prof. Allan currently coordinates Business 121. Her greatest interest is in the area of student success, and in looking for ways to improve the transition from high school to university, she started working in the field of Emotional Intelligence. Prof. Allan is certified to administer and interpret the EQi, speaks on the subject, and has done work with both her students and local companies to improve performance through improving EI.
