Laurier business programs are recognized across Canada as both leading and innovative. They produce what Canadian business needs: smart, motivated, knowledgeable, professional employees.
The programs use a variety of techniques including case discussions, simulation games, visits by business executives and student projects. By providing a real-time laboratory in which to experiment and apply theoretical learning, the business program helps students develop a better understanding of how to work together to analyze situations and manage organizations.
The Business Department offers the following degree and diploma programs:
Laurier offers a number of degrees and diploma programs including a four-year honours BBA program, five-year Honours BBA / Honours BSC Computing and Computer Electronics, Honours BBA / Honours BSc Computer Science, and Honours BBA (Laurier) / Honours BMathematics (UWaterloo), PhD & Masters Programs, an MBA program in a variety of formats, and several diploma programs.
A variety of concentrations are available in both in the BBA and MBA programs, which allow students to pursue a specific interest within the study of general management. Specifically of note are interdisciplinary concentrations such as entrepreneurship, insurance and risk management, supply chain management and brand communication.
The School is also noted for its excellent partnerships with the business community. On the strength of such partnerships, new program concentrations are being developed through four new Chairs: a Chair in Insurance, in the Management of Technology Enterprises, in Supply Chain Management, and in Entrepreneurship. As a result of these developments, new courses are being introduced at the undergraduate level and will be extended to graduate level programs in subsequent years.
