Interested in volunteering as an early literacy coach with children in a local school?

Strong Start offers early literacy support for primary-aged children in local schools through their Letters, Sounds and Words program.  Training for volunteer coaches is being offered now.  To view the training schedule click here.  For more information on local schools in need of Strong Start coaches this Fall contact Shannon at spennington@wlu.ca

Interested in volunteering with recreation and sports programs with children in local schools?

KVR KidsFit (www.kvrkidsfit.com) offers sports and recreation programs focusing on fundamental movement skills for children in local schools.  If you are interested in volunteering as a KidsFit coach this Fall, contact Shannon at spennington@wlu.ca

Interested in Volunteering with Seniors?

Community Support Connections, Meals on Wheels and More (www.communitysupportconnections.org) is looking for volunteers for their Friendly Visitor and FABFit programs.  Volunteers are matched with a local senior who they visit in their home for companionship and/or to help with an adapted exercise program.  Training is provided.  Contact Shannon for more info at spennington@wlu.ca

When contacting the organizations to inquire about volunteer opportunities, please let them know that you are from Laurier, but that you are NOT a Laurier Community Service-Learning (CSL) student (many of these organizations receive Laurier students for CSL placements).
