Nicole Coviello is the Betty and Peter Sims Professor of Entrepreneurship and also Professor of Marketing at Wilfrid Laurier University. She received her PhD in Marketing and International Business from the University of Auckland in 1994. Nicole also holds an MSc (Technology Management) and BComm Hons (Marketing) from the University of Saskatchewan. She began her career at the University of Waikato (New Zealand) and has since held positions at the University of Calgary and the University of Auckland.
Nicole’s research is published in the top journals of three different disciplines. These include marketing (the Journal of Marketing, Journal of the Academy of Marketing Science), international business (Journal of International Business Studies, Management International Review, Journal of World Business, Journal of International Marketing, International Business Review) and entrepreneurship (Journal of Business Venturing, Entrepreneurship Theory and Practice). She sits on a range of editorial boards across these fields and in 2008, received the 'Best Reviewer' award for the Journal of International Business Studies. Nicole is currently the Field Editor (International Entrepreneurship) for the Journal of Business Venturing.
Nicole recently held a two-year visiting appointment as the Nissis International Visiting Professor at Hanken (the Swedish School of Economics and Business Administration) in Finland. She was also an Erskine Visiting Fellow at the University of Canterbury in New Zealand (2011). Nicole holds appointments as Visiting Professor and Research Fellow at the University of Glasgow (2007-2012) and Honorary Professor at the University of Auckland. In 2010, she received an Honorary Doctorate from the Turku School of Economics in Finland.
RESEARCH INTERESTS:
New venture network and resource dynamics, network interactions and structure in new product development, entrepreneurial internationalisation, methodologies for network analysis, the impact of transactional vs. relational marketing in different contexts.
