Biography
She has been a classroom teacher, vice-principal, school board consultant and coordinator, Student Achievement Officer with the Ontario Ministry of Education, and National Literacy Consultant for a major educational publishing company. In addition, she has taught numerous Additional Qualification courses for Western and OISE/UT. Professor MacFarlane has authored a variety of professional resources for teachers and presented at numerous conferences, including the Association for Curriculum Supervision and Development, the Canadian Reading Recovery Conference and the Reading for the Love of It Conference.
She works closely with school boards across the province on issues of school improvement with a specific focus on improving literacy teaching.
