Dr. Kotsopoulos is the Associate Vice-President: Research. She is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Education, cross appointed to the Department of Mathematics in the Faculty of Science. She is a former Graduate Coordinator and Associate Dean. Dr. Kotsopoulos is the director of the Mathematical Brains Laboratory. She is an Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT). She was recently awarded the Hoffman-Little Award for Faculty for excellence in teaching, research, and professional endeavor. She was also recently awarded an OCUFA teaching award.
Dr. Kotsopoulos's research focus is on the human sciences. She studies mathematical cognition and learning across the lifespan. She has an emerging research interest in post-secondary policy. Dr. Kotsopoulos's research is funded by the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada (NSERC) and the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC). She has also held funding from Ontario Centres of Excellence, Knowledge Network for Applied Education Research (KNAER), and private industry. Her research has resulted in social innovation and the successful US trademarking of the LittleCounters® program. She is the founding and current co-editor of the Fields Mathematics Education Journal.
She currently serves on the SHARCNET Board, SSHRC Leaders, the Southern Ontario Smart Computing Innovation Platform, and Compute Canada.
