WELCOME TO

The Sun Life Financial Movement Disorders Research and Rehabilitation Centre
more commonly known as "MDRC"

MDRC is an internationally known centre for research of movement disorders - particularly Parkinson's disease - operating under Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, Ontario.

We are trying to find answers to questions such as:

  • What causes freezing?
  • How do obstacles affect walking?
  • How does exercise affect Parkinson's symptoms?
  • What factors influence the progression of symptoms of Parkinson's?
  • What can we learn that will assist people living with Parkinson's in their daily activities?

For more information on how you can be involved in research,

contact MDRC by calling 519-884-0710 Ext 3924 or e-mail mdrc@wlu.ca

The Philip Family Graduate Award in Movement Disorders
The Faculty of Science would like to thank Niru and Chantal Philip who have established an endowed graduate award at Wilfrid Laurier University to encourage and support students whose study and research focus is on movement disorders.

The Philip Family Graduate Award in Movement Disorders, in the Department of Kinesiology & Physical Education, was established by Niru and Chantal Philip to encourage students to learn about, research, and pursue a career that will help individuals with movement disorders such as Parkinson’s.

This gift and award is made in honour of Niru Philip’s parents, Francis and Shanthini Philip.
