Beggar’s works have been praised by his peers worldwide: "As much as Humboldt did not prevent us from discovering German travelers [...], Ibn Battuta [a seminal figure in Arab travel literature] did not overshadow [...] a present-day wayfarer like Abderrahman Beggar" (S. Ghouati, Vice President, VI Humboldt-Ibn Battuta International Conference); “Beggar elaborated his own theory on the Self and the Other” (E. Oktapoda, Paris-Sorbonne University); “the essay by Beggar must be read by anyone interested in the discourse of identity, alterity and migrancy” (S. Konate, University of Cocody at Abidjan); “a bedtime reading” (N. D’Ambrosio, University of Bari); “to be read more than once” (R. Darragi, University of Tunis); “a passionate love for Latin America […], an original perspective far from the usual stereotypical references” (S. Etouil, Ibn Zohr University); “a remarkably dense essay” (C. T. Hahn, Lake Forest College); "Beggar opens new venues in research in the domain of transcultural writings" (D. D. Fischer, University of North Carolina Chapel Hill); “a fine storyteller“ (S. Jay, Franco-Moroccan author).
