Research interests: Botany in general; here are some examples of topics that I am interested in: (1) Delimitation of species and understanding their evolutionary relationships using morphological and molecular data sets. Currently, I am investigating the systematics, evolution and biogeography of Cuscuta (dodders) (Convolvulaceae), a genus of about 200 parasitic species. See: Digital Atlas of Cuscuta (Convolvulaceae); (2) Diversity, evolution and function of various plant morphologies and structures; (3) Reproductive biology: diversity of strategies and their evolution; (4) Biology of weeds and invasive plants; (5) Plant Conservation; (6) Ethnobotany; (7) Flora of North and South America: I am contributing with taxonomic treatments to three major floristic projects: Jepson Manual (Flora of California), Flora of North America, and Flora Neotropica.
