One of the new members to the WLS faculty, Mark began in this position in July, 2012.
Prior to joining the Seminary faculty, Mark had served as Assistant to the Bishop for the Eastern Synod of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Canada. His primary responsibilities were in the areas of candidacy and missions. He had previously worked for 28 years in parish ministry, serving Christ, Peterborough (1980-1984), Our Saviour, Owen Sound (1984-1991), and Mount Zion, Waterloo (1991-2008). He has also been serving as the president of Canadian Lutheran World Relief since 2006.
In a time when the faith community is facing unprecedented challenges, Mark is particularly interested in the areas of transformative leadership, adaptive change, cooperative/collaborative ministry, and the challenge of encouraging pastors, congregations, and the wider church to a more expansive and flexible understanding of ministry within a changing context.
