BA (University of Western Ontario), MA (McMaster University), PhD (McMaster University)Biography
Dr. Logan McLeod is currently an Assistant Professor of Economics at
Wilfrid Laurier University. While completing a PhD from McMaster University
(2010), Dr. McLeod first joined the School of Public Health at the University of
Alberta (2009) before joining the Economics Department at Wilfrid Laurier
University in 2012. He also has a BA (Honours Economics) from the University of
Western Ontario (2001) and an MA from McMaster University (2002). Dr. McLeod
is currently a Board Member for the Canadian Health Economist’s Study
Group.
His primary research areas include applied microeconometrics and applied microeconomic theory in the field of Health Economics. Specifically, his research is on the economics of primary health care and covers three specific areas: utilization of health care services, the determinants of healthy behaviours, and health care financing (i.e. financial barriers to access). More broadly, Dr. McLeod is interested in how social survey and administrative data, and the application of appropriate parametric and nonparametric econometric methods, can be used to further our understanding of the economics of primary health care. His research has been published in leading academic journals, including the Canadian Journal of Economics, Applied Economics, and the Journal of Health Economics.
