Biography
Born and raised in Brantford, I graduated from North Park high school with a dream of travelling. I decided to go east to attend the University of King's College (part of Dalhousie University) in Halifax, Nova Scotia. During that time, I spent one amazing semester studying abroad at Umeå University in northern Sweden. Before returning to Canada to finish my journalism degree, I took advantage of my time in Europe. I travelled to many countries (including Finland, Russia, Spain, Italy, and the Netherlands) but eventually I had to come home. After graduating in 2006 and finding it difficult to find work in Nova Scotia, my future husband and I moved on to another province - Quebec! We lived in Montreal for four years and this is where my passion for teaching began to grow. I taught English as a Second Language (ESL) in private schools and public schools at all levels - elementary, secondary and college. I loved it so much that I decided to go back to school to get my teaching degree. I'm now an ESL specialist and bring a wide range of knowledge, experience and education to my position as ESL Facilitator here in the LEAF Program at Laurier Brantford.
