Jessie Zhan is an Assistant Professor of OB/HRM in the School of Business and Economics. She completed her PhD in Industrial/Organizational Psychology at the University of Maryland in 2011. Her current research interests include emotion regulation at work and retirement. One of her research stream is the expression and regulation of emotions at work with a focus on emotional labor of service employees. Applying a multilevel perspective, her research examines both temporary and time-invariant factors to explore the dynamic process of emotion regulation process in customer-employee interaction. Another stream is older worker employment and retirement. Her research integrates multiple theoretical perspectives to examine the factors that contribute to employees’ retirement-related decision making process and their adjustment process to retirement. Related to both streams, Jessie is interested in studying work stress, coping and well-being of employees in general. Jessie’s research has been published at academic journals including Academy of Management Journal, Journal of Applied Psychology, Personnel Psychology, and Journal of Occupational Health Psychology.
