Biography
My research looks at the interplay of globalization and culture and the effects those have on institutions and organizations in Canada and abroad. One example of this can be found in my work on the Canadian Forces which, among other things, examines the impact of religious and cultural illiteracy on civil-military relations and the role of military forces in delivering humanitarian aid, disaster relief, and peace keeping/making efforts at home and internationally. In a parallel vein, my research on the internationalization of higher education looks at the effects of service learning and learning abroad programs on international partners and their communities. A third area of interest is in the effects that increasing global mobility, diversity, and pluralism have on ideas about citizenship, rights and recognition.
