Biography
Megan Conway is the Director of the Laurier Centre for Community Service Learning. She grew up in the Ottawa Valley, and appreciates her rural roots and all the family support she received growing up, especially the encouragement to keep learning and to be brave because of it all. A graduate of Queen's University, Cambridge University and the University of Waterloo, she is a teacher by training, and recently received her PhD in Urban Planning examining questions about place-based poverty reduction and evaluation. Megan is the Co-Founder of Pathways Kitchener, a board member of Social Ventures Partners, and was named by the Waterloo Region Record as a Top 40 Under 40. She lives in downtown Kitchener with her husband Cameron and her dog Drew.
"Learning by experience in community-settings offers students the chance to get
real-world experience, understand theory more deeply, build professional skills
while contributing to a resume and make important connections and networks that
will be significant after University."
"Laurier and its students in
particular gain a tremendous amount through these opportunities and the number
of connections and linkages between students and the broader community is truly
outstanding."
