Academic Background
BA, History and Medieval Studies, Wilfrid Laurier University
Biography
Having lived in Kitchener-Waterloo all my life, when it came time to decide which university to apply to, I knew I wanted to stay local. What I love about this area is that it delivers a big city feeling with all its sophistication and innovation, but still retains a small town charm.
Laurier mirrors that combination beautifully. The wide variety of academic programs, high caliber and professional commitment of Laurier's faculty and staff, in addition to the myriad of student services and activities offered, all combine to foster a culture of personal and academic excellence that graduates take with them out into the world. At the same time, Laurier's small campuses allow students to develop a comfort and familiarity with their environment, and build relationships not only with their fellow students, but with Laurier's faculty and staff as well. Although I only live minutes away from the Waterloo campus, I still affectionately refer to it as my "home away from home."
As an undergraduate at Laurier I explored my life-long interest in archaeology while pursuing a combined degree in History and Medieval Studies, and a minor in Religion and Culture. In addition to my academic responsibilities I actively participated in a number of extracurricular activities such as Laurier Days and Medieval Day, and helped establish and thereafter managed the Medieval Students' Society, one of many campus clubs.
As part of the Laurier family I feel privileged to now be able to use my education and experience to help foster and maintain Laurier's age old commitment to its student's personal and academic success.
